If you haven’t read or listened to Last Riders, I recommend you start with Razor and follow Jamie Begley’s reading or listening in order. This is book 4 in Begley’s The Last Riders series and this is Shade and Lilly’s story mainly told in Lilly’s POV. Now, the only thing that bothers me is how far behind I am reading the rest of Begley’s novels. Each step he took out of the shadows revealed more of himself until only one secret remained. I planned to frustrate the single narrator, but with third-person omniscience, surprisingly, that part also works. It took quite a while to read/listen, but there wasn’t really a single moment that I threw away. The characters, the tone, the development, the intimate scenes, even the possible plot twists are all handled skillfully. When The Last Riders are threatened by another motorcycle club and determined to take Lily, Shade is her only hope of survival in the approaching confrontation. Her rebellion causes hunting instincts in the former Navy SEAL sniper. When she discovers the truth about The Last Riders, it threatens to disrupt all relationships within the club. Lily is everything Shade wants in a woman. He is too much for her to handle, especially with past nightmares constantly threatening her sanity. The tattoo enforcer for The Last Riders is a mystery Lily doesn’t want to solve. He’s rude, obnoxious, and definitely not a cowboy. Shade is everything Lily doesn’t want in a man.
